Egreat R200S-II Android TV Box Features 3.5″ HDD Slot

The Egreat R200S-II is a new Android TV box featuring Android 4.4. However, it also has a few unique features such as a 3.5″ HDD slot and being powered by the Hisilicon Hi3798M SoC.

It’s rare to see boxes using the quadcore Hisilicon Hi3798M SoC. According to the specs, this means that the Egreat R200S-II is capable of both H.264 and HEVC hardware decoding.

The 3.5″ HDD slot is a massive plus to those needing large amounts of storage, allowing up to 4TB to be added by sloting in a 3.5″ hard drive.

There’s also an integrated screen that seems to show the time and output resolution.

The rest of the specs are pretty typical from most Android boxes we’ve seen, with 1GB of RAM, 8Gb of onboard storage, b/g/n Wifi and fast Ethernet.

The box lacks Bluetooth, which is odd given that it’s essentially standard these days.

Interestingly, the specifications mention that both Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD MA 7.1ch RAW audio passthrough should be supported which should be a massive plus for those with a modern audio setup.
