MXIII M82 2GB Android TV Box (Amlogic S802) Impressions (And Special Offer)

Introduction

Today, I’m looking at the MXIII M82 Android TV box. The MXIII M82 is one of the latest generation of Android TV devices, bringing the Android experience to the big screen. Running Android 4.4.2 on an Amlogic S802 chipset, the device will power through media playback with its quad-core 2.0Ghz CPU and Octo-Core Mali-450 GPU. The device also comes equipped with powerful connectivity options such as Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless AC. This makes the MXIII M82 a great device for streaming video or playing games. Please note that this is a impression of the model with 2GB of RAM. Key differences are the additional 1GB of RAM and support for dual band wireless AC

The MXIII is a standard “black box” design. The top of the device contains a recessed power button for turning the device on and off. The side contains a micro SD card slot (supporting up to 32gb), 2 USB ports and a mini USB OTG port. Around the rear of the device, we have power, component out, Ethernet , HDMI out and SPDIF Optical Audio.

MXIII M82 User Interface

MediaBox Launcher

The MXIII M82 uses the MediaBox interface that we have started to see on most current Android TV boxes. It’s a very appealing Android launcher, grouping apps into logical groups whilst adding additional information such as weather and time. I’ve had experience using this launcher on other devices and have found it to be a really intuitive way to navigate Android on a large screen and it is a significant improvement from the previous generations default Android launcher which was didn’t translate well to a big screen environment.

MXIII M82 Performance

The Amlogic S802 chipset powers a number of the latest devices and can play media files without issues. Its octo-core Mali-450 GPU is powerful enough to play games at 1080p. Feedback has suggested that games such as Beach Buggy Blitz can be played at maximum settings without issue.

    • Hi Christina,

Webcam support on Android is pretty spotty at best. Logitech C series webcams tend to have the best compatibility but there’s no guarantees unfortunately.

    • If you are on Wifi, yes the signal strength of this machine is horrendous. Very few reviews mention this huge cons of the unit.
