BlitzWolf Lightning Cable Review: Design

The BlitzWolf Lightning cable is designed to be a more durable version of Apple’s own Lightning cables. Blitzwolf have taken Apple’s basic cable and beefed up the connectors and cabling.

The cable features a braided cover that helps it resist tangles and improve durability. It’s 1 meter long which is fine, though it also comes in a 2m variant for those wanting a longer cable.

The plugs themselves are metal and feel solid. The Lightning connector’s housing is slim so I didn’t have any issues using it with my iPhone case’s small port cutouts.

The cables come in 3 colors to match your style. I was (thankfully) sent the grey and black version which looks very nice. It also comes in black/red and silver/blue if you like a bit more color.

BlitzWolf Lightning Cable Review: Using It

There really isn’t much to say here except that it works.

I tested the BlitzWolf Lightning Cable with several devices including my iPhone 6 for both charging and transferring data. Everything worked as expected.

BlitzWolf says that the cable is “Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad” certified (MFi). This means the cable meets Apple’s standards and contains Apple’s authentication chip.

Buying an MFi cable ensures it won’t stop working with future updates like cheap Lightning cables do. This, plus the questionable quality, is why I won’t buy cheap Lightning cables.

Apple devices will generally show a notification if a non-MFi cable is used. This didn’t happen with the BlitzWolf one.
