iPazzPort Mini Wireless Keyboard Review: An Excellent HTPC Keyboard for Under $15

HTPC Keyboards and Air mice offer a better remote experience for your Android TV box or HTPC. The iPazzport wireless mini keyboard offers an impressive array of functionality in a compact package – all for under $15. Is it worth it? Read my iPazzPort mini wireless keyboard review to find out.

What is the iPazzPort Mini Wireless Keyboard?

Controlling Android TV boxes or HTPCs can be a real pain sometimes. Android TV boxes aren’t always optimized for remote use and using a full size keyboard and mouse is too cumbersome for the couch.

The iPazzPort wireless mini keyboard aims to solve this problem by combining a wireless keyboard with a touchpad that fits in the palm of your hand. Wireless freedom thanks to 2.4GHz connectivity and multi-color backlighting make it the perfect companion for the living room.

If you’re wanting a better way to control your Android TV box or HTPC, the iPazzPort mini keyboard is an excellent choice.

Key Features

  • 2.4GHz Wireless Connectivity

Inside the Box

There’s just the basics inside the box, including:

  • the iPazzport Wireless Mini Keyboard itself
  • A Micro USB charging cable
  • An English User Manual

The unit’s 800mAh rechargeable battery is removable but comes pre-installed and its USB adapter is hidden inside the battery compartment for easy transport.

iPazzPort Mini Wireless Keyboard Review: Hardware

The iPazzPort mini keyboard follows a controller-like layout making it comfortable to hold whilst a textured underside improves grip.

iPazzPort Mini Wireless Keyboard Battery

In its compact frame, iPazzport managed to cram in a QWERTY keyboard (including function keys!), a compact touchpad and a comprehensive set of media keys for one of the most comprehensive feature sets on a mini keyboard I’ve ever seen.

Media controls are conveniently located under your left thumb whilst directional keys and an OK button are on the right.

iPazzPort Mini Wireless Keyboard Touchpad

These sit either side of the multi-touch touchpad which supports tap-to-click and scrolling gestures. Dedicated left and right click buttons are also located in several places on the keyboard for those that prefer physical controls.

Android controls also make an appearance, with Home, Back and Menu supported.

The QWERTY keyboard takes up the remainder of space and has all the keys you’d expect, though placement of some keys like the Windows key is a little unconventional. A “Function” key also allows you to toggle extra features (marked in Blue) including Print Screen, CTRL+ALT+DEL and even adjusting touchpad sensitivity.

The keys offer a nice, tactile response suited for hunt-and-peck typing but you’re hardly going to be writing War and Peace on it so that’s fine.

There’s even a three color backlight for using the keyboard in dim environments. Pressing Fn+F2 cycles between off/red/green/blue backlighting – perfect when watching a movie. The keyboard automatically turns off the backlight after a few moments of inactivity and pressing a key lights it up again.

iPazzPort Mini Wireless Keyboard Review: Using It

Using the iPazzPort mini keyboard with your Android TV box or Windows PC is simple.
After charging the battery using the included micro USB cable, just plug in the 2.4GHz wireless adapter, switch the keyboard on using the switch in the top left and it should be detected automatically.

iPazzPort Mini Wireless Keyboard Backlight

I tested the iPazzport wireless mini keyboard on several Android TV boxes and Windows PCs without issues.

One odd thing I experienced was that the keyboard seemed to develop a mind of its own when the batteries were low. I got phantom movements and clicks on the touchpad, though recharging the device saw the issue go away. It was definitely odd but wasn’t a problem as long as you keep it charged.

Should You Buy the iPazzPort Mini Wireless Keyboard?
