Following the MeegoPad T01, the PiPO X7 is an quadcore mini PC using a more traditional “box” form factor. Leveraging Intel’s Bay Trail processor, this all-metal box runs Windows 8.1 with Bing and should have more than enough grunt to handle XBMC. Will this replace the traditional HTPC?

PiPO X7 Impressions
The PiPO X7 appears to be the first Windows mini PC leveraging a more traditional form factor. Whilst it sacrifices some portability, the additional size should offer better cooling and has also enabled the inclusion of an external antenna to improve wifi performance. The all-metal construction should aid in a more “premium” feel, as well as acting as a large heatsink to dissipate heat generated during use.
The PiPO X7 should be ideal for handling XBMC/Kodi, media playback, web browsing and even some light gaming. You can see CPUBoss’ benchmarks of the Z3736F here. Additionally, running video streaming applications such as Netflix and Amazon Prime should be much easier, given Windows’ support of many required forms of DRM.
Information I have received from vendors state that Windows with Bing comes activated, so no fee is required. The device is available in both black and silver, although I have only seen the silver version in the wild. GeekBuying have now listed the black version.
