Vensmile U1 Runs Remix OS, Powered by Amlogic S905

The Vensmile U1 is a new Android box powered by the Amlogic S905. However, it doesn’t run stock Android but rather Remix OS 2.0, Jide’s Android fork that attempts to bring a desktop experience to the mobile OS.

Remix-OS-01

The specs are on the high end for Amlogic S905 devices, with 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 32GB eMMC storage, Bluetooth 4.0, dual band WiFi and gigabit Ethernet. It’s nothing that we haven’t already seen.

Remix OS is the real draw here, with Jide claiming their OS offers a much more “PC” feel, complete with multi-window support, shortcut keys and a taskbar.

Inside the box, you’ll get the Vensmile U1 box, IR remote, HDMI cable, power adapter and an English user manual

MeeGoPad A02 is the World’s First Remix OS Stick PC

MeeGoPad have announced their latest mini PC. Called the MeeGoPad A2, the company is billing the device as the world’s first Remix OS stick.

Powered by the octacore Allwinner A83t, the device runs Remix OS, Jide’s Android fork based on Android Lollypop that aims to bring a Windows-like experience to Android devices, complete with multiple Windows, shortcut keys and a taskbar.

Remix-OS-01

The MeeGoPad A02 comes in two variants: a low end model with 1GB of RAM and 15GB of eMMC storage and a higher specc’d version with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The unit’s case appears to be similar to the MeeGoPad T03 Pro, offering two full-size USB 2.0 ports, an SD card slot and 3.5mm audio output.

Inside the box, you’ll get the MeeGoPad A02 unit, power cable, power adapter, warranty card and user manual.

Interestingly, the company has opted to go the crowdfunding route for their new stick, starting a campaign on IndieGoGo. A $39 pledge scores you the 1GB/16GB model and $49 for the 2GB/32GB model. Higher tiers are also available if you’re after 100 units of either variant.

Jide Remix Mini PC Runs Remix OS Based on Android

The Jide Remix Mini PC is a new device that runs Jide’s Remix OS, a custom build of Android that attempts to transform Android into a more traditional desktop PC experience.

The unit’s specs are pretty typical of other Android mini PCs, featuring 2GB of RAM, 16GB of eMMC storage, b/g/n Wifi, Bluetooth 4.0 and Ethernet.

The SoC is listed as an 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A53 (64-bit) Allwinner but digging around show’s that it’s the Allwinner H64.

Remix-OS-01

The real point of differentiation here is Remix OS, Jide’s fork based on Android Lollipop. The OS brings across the typical components of a desktop environment, including a taskbar, multi-window support, and right-click.

Inside the box, you’ll get the Jide Remix Mini PC, power adapter, HDMI Cable, and 2 Chinese manuals (for some reason).

X3 Android TV Box Runs Remix OS and VidOn XBMC

The X3 is a new Android TV Box powered by the Allwinner H3. Spec-wise, it’s nothing exciting. It features 1Gb of RAM, 8Gb of internal storage, b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and fast Ethernet.

Where it starts to get interesting is that it can run Remix OS, a Windows-like flavor of Android that features a taskbar and windowed applications.

It also comes pre-installed with VidOn XBMC rather than vanilla Kodi. As mentioned in my VidOn Box review, VidOn XBMC is based on Kodi 14.2 Helix and offers a number of paywalled features such as Bluray Menu navigation and HD audio passthrough.

X3 Technical Specifications

  • Operating System: Android KitKat 4.4
  • Chipset: Allwinner H3
  • CPU: ARM Quad-core A7 up to 1.5 GHz
  • GPU: MALI400MP2 @600MHz
  • Memory: 1GB DDR3
  • Internal Storage: 8GB NAND + MicroSD card slot
  • Connectivity: 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0
  • Audio/Video Output: HDMI 1.4, Composite Video Out
  • Interfaces: 2 x USB 2.0

Inside the box, you’ll get the X3 Android TV box, IR remote control, HDMI cable, power adapter and a user manual.
