XiaoMi have added a new speaker to their range. The XiaoMi MiFa is a ruggedized Bluetooth speaker designed for the outdoors. Interestingly, it features a micro SD card slot, allowing you to play back WMA, APE, FLAC, MP3 and WAV files stored locally. It also comes in a wide variety of colors, from a classic black to “watermelon red”.
Looking very similar to the Logitech X100, the XiaoMi MiFa speaker sports a round design featuring a 3W driver and a handy clip. This allows you to hang the speaker wherever you need it. It’s compact, with an 8.1cm diameter and just 3.8cm thick.
The whole unit is water resistant, dust proof and features a rubber coating to protect it from drops so it’s definitely got the outdoor angle covered. The underlying shell is made from a zinc alloy to add further strength.
The unit features a full set of controls, in addition to allowing music playback to be controlled from the paired device. It also features a built-in noise cancelling microphone so you can use it for hands-free calling.
The internal 1100mAh battery should be good for around 8-12 hours of music playback and is charged via a micro USB port.
Given XiaoMi’s history of quality products, I’m expecting the MiFa speaker to be another success.
