ROMOSS QS05 Review: Is This Go-Anywhere Powerbank Any Good?

There’s nothing worse than getting caught with a dead phone battery. The Romoss QS05 5000mAh power bank aims to solve this problem by providing the ability to charge your smartphone and other devices on the go with its built-in battery. Is it worth it? Keep reading my ROMOSS QS05 review to find out!

What is the ROMOSS QS05?

The ROMOSS QS05 is a compact yet cheap 5000mAh power bank that allows you to charge your smartphone and other USB gadgets on the go. There’s enough juice to charge your phone a couple of times before you’ll need to recharge the powerbank itself (though you’ll need to be mindful of its 1A charging limit).

There’s also an integrated micro USB cable and hidden micro USB to Lightning adapter so whether you’re an Android or iOS user, you’ll hopefully never be caught without the right cable.

Key Features

  • Built-in micro USB cable and Lightning adapter for ultimate portability
  • Compact, pocketable design for easy transport
  • Smart charging circuitry provides safe charging of your devices

ROMOSS QS05 Review: Hardware

The Romoss QC5 is a compact power bank. Coming in at a mere 100x66x13mm, it’s small enough to slip into your pocket without adding any significant bulk. As something that’s designed to be on you, it’s svelte form factor is definitely appreciated.

There’s also a handy integrated micro USB cable and a micro USB to Lightning adapter hidden in the unit so you’ll always be ready to charge without needing to remember extra cables.

ROMOSS QS05 Review 04

The cable doubles up as a carry strap, but I’m skeptical how well the cable will hold up over time if you’re using it to carry around the power bank. If something happens to the cable, you’ll have to replace the entire device.

In terms of ports, there’s only a micro USB port for charging the power bank. There’s also a small LED power meter that shows you how much charge is remaining in 25% increments.

ROMOSS QS05 Review: Using It

After charging the ROMOSS QS05 overnight, it was ready for a night out.

The power bank starts charging your phone as soon as it’s plugged in using the integrated cable. This is great as I hate having to press something to kick off the charging process like on the Blitzwolf BW-P3 as it’s possible to forget to press the button and end up with a dead phone anyway.

ROMOSS QS05 Review 05

I found having built-in cables handy as it meant that I didn’t need to remember anything else when I went out. As long as I had the power bank, I knew I could charge my phone.

However, the ROMOSS QS05 only supports 1A charging, which is slower than the 2A+ most modern smartphone chargers use. Whilst it’ll still technically charge your devices, it’s far slower than most users will be used to, particularly if you’ve got a device that uses Qualcomm’s QuickCharge technology.

As long as I had the power bank, I knew I could charge my phone

The battery meter works well enough, displaying the power bank’s charge as soon as you plug something into it. However, I couldn’t find any other way of checking power bank’s battery status so it was a pain trying to figure out if it needed to be charged.

Should You Buy the ROMOSS QS05?

ROMOSS QS05 Review 03

The ROMOSS QS05 is a decent power bank given its affordable price tag. I really enjoyed its compact size and built-in cables. However, the lack of high-speed charging makes it difficult to recommend given you can get the similarly specc’d Blitzwolf BW-P4 for the same price which features Qualcomm QC3.0 (though without the handy integrated cables).

Pros

  • Compact design makes it easy to transport
  • Integrated micro USB cable and Lightning adapter makes it great for travelling
  • Wallet-friendly price tag

Cons

  • Only 1A charging
  • No way to check battery status without a device connected
  • 5000mAh capacity may be too small for some

ROMOSS QS05
The ROMOSS QS05 is a decent power bank for the price, with its pocketability and integrated cables being a massive selling point. However, its 1A charging limit will make it unappealing for those wanting to charge their devices quickly.
