CL720 LED Projector Features 720p Output and TV Tuner for $140

Looking for an uber-cheap HD projector? The CL720 is an LED projector that features 720p output, an integrated TV tuner and USB media playback – all for under $140.

There’s actually two separate models, both available in black or white. The CL720 features an analog TV tuner whilst the CL720D’s TV tuner is digital.

Connectivity options seem pretty comprehensive. There’s 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 HDMI inputs and Composite Video input. Audio is handled by integrated dual 5W speakers allow for stereo sound without needing to hook up speakers. However, using external speakers is an option via the audio output ports which is great.

In terms of specifications, the CL720 boasts a 2000:1 contrast ratio and 3000 lumens of brightness. This falls within the “ideal” brightness range for projectors according to PCMag. Bulb life is rated for 50000 hours of use, although I don’t know if the bulb is user-replaceable.

According to the marketing materials, the CL720 should be capable of projecting a 200-inch image.

If you’re looking for a cheap projector for the home or office, the CL720 looks like an attractive option.

    • Hi Sparkie,

I haven’t tested this projector but 720p should be fine for text – just make sure you don’t make the fonts too small.

  2. Hi William,

    Thanks for sharing.

However, the projector you mentioned has a very low resolution (320×480) compared to the resolution of this projector (1280×720), isn’t as bright, doesn’t have a TV tuner, etc. I’d suggest this CL720D projector is far more powerful even though it’s a little more pricey, but both suit different needs.
