MECOOL KM8 is a Google Certified Android TV Box with Voice Remote For Only $59.99

The MECOOL KM8 is a new Android TV box powered by the popular quadcore Amlogic S905X processor that comes in at a mere $59.99. It’s also one of the first Chinese Android TV boxes running Android TV to be properly certified by Google – unlocking a wealth of exclusive features that only a few other Android TV boxes enjoy such as Google Cast support and more.

Specs are decent, though it’s clear that Mecool have had to make some sacrifies to achieve such a low price. Powered by the quadcore Amlogic S905X, it also features 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage (expandable via micro SD cards), 2.4GHz wireless N, ethernet and Bluetooth 4.0. You’ll also get an external wifi antenna which should offer improved wireless range.

In terms of ports, there’s two USB 2.0 ports for connecting USB storage or accessories like an air mouse, as well as composite video out.

The box runs Android TV 8.0 based on Oreo so you’re also getting the latest version of Android TV out of the box.

As a Google-certified device, it’ll support Google Cast for streaming content from your phone, whilst Google Widevine L1 support means that the MECOOL KM8 should also play back HD Netflix. Dolby Audio, HDR video output and more are also supported.

An included Bluetooth voice remote will also get you access to the Google Assistant (for asking questions and searching for content without lifting a finger).

If you’re wanting to pick one up, the MECOOL KM8 is currently on sale for only $59.99 with free shipping for the first 840 units only. After that, the price will gradually climb so it’s best to get in early to save a few dollars.
