Zidoo X10

New Flagship Zidoo X10 Android TV Box Features Realtek RTD1295 and SATA Bay

Zidoo have teased their newest flagship Android TV box called the Zidoo X10. However, information is sparse at the moment.

The company has revealed that the Zidoo X10 is powered by the quadcore Realtek RTD1295.

It’ll also feature a 3.5″ SATA bay for adding a ”standard” 3.5″ hard drive for additional storage.

Zidoo X10 SATA Bay

Case shots reveal features similar to their current flagship, the Zidoo X9S:

  • 2 USB 2.0 ports
  • A USB 3.0 port
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • HDMI In
  • HDMI and Composite Video out
  • Optical audio output

There’s also an LED display that shows the time and status indicators.

A small cutout at the back of the case suggests there’s an active cooling fan, which makes sense if you’ve got a 3.5″ HDD installed.

Zidoo X10 Rear

There’s no information which version of Android it’ll ship with, though my guess is Android 6.0 Marshmallow based on Zidoo’s other Realtek RTD1295 devices.

I really like the design of the new device, using a sleek brushed metal design in gunmetal gray. At this stage, I’m going to go out on a limb and say it looks like the best looking Zidoo Android TV box to date.

Keep posted for more info as it becomes available.

Beelink SEA I Android Box Features HDMI In, SATA and DDR4 RAM

Beelink are back with the Beelink SEA I – a new Android TV box with a few interesting features up its sleeves.

The Beelink SEA I runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by the octacore Realtek 1295. That’s the same chip we’ve seen in devices like Zidoo X9S, which offers solid Android performance.

It also features 2GB of DDR4 RAM, 16GB or 32GB of eMMC storage (depending on the variant chosen), dual band wireless AC, gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth 4.0.

For those of you with 4K TVs, HDR is supported for the widest color range possible.

However, the most interesting features are HDMI In and the 2.5” HDD Bay.

Thanks to its HDMI In Port,  you should be able to record video directly from connected devices. Picture-in-Picture is also supported, allowing to view both the Beelink SEA I’s display and the connected device at the same time.

The 2.5” HDD bay will allow you to add a high capacity drive to increase your storage.  Beelink are betting on you using this feature to share your media, with the marketing material suggesting that the new device can be used as for media storage too.

Inside the box, you’ll get the Beelink SEA I TV Box, IR Remote Control, HDMI Cable, Power Adapter, and an English Manual.

The Beelink SEA I is available from GearBest starting from $105.

Zidoo Announces Zidoo X8 Android Box, Reveals more about Zidoo X9S

Zidoo have revealed a new Android TV box and unveiled new information about their upcoming flagship Android box, the Zidoo X9S.

    Meet the Zidoo X8

Their newest box is called the Zidoo X8 and is also powered by the quadcore Realtek RTD1295 like the X9S. Zidoo appear to be the first company producing Android boxes based on this SoC.

Based on the press release, the Zidoo X8 is positioned as a budget version of the Zidoo X9S with slightly lower specs and no SATA port.

It features 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 8GB of eMMC storage, dual band wireless AC, Gigabit Ethernet, and Bluetooth 4.0.

The Realtek RTD1295 also comes with a tri-core Mali T820 GPU which should offer decent gaming capabilities.

Video recording is supported via the unit’s HDMI input. It supports 4K content, though it appears recordings are limited to 1080p at 30fps. I’m told the recording bitrate has been improved over the Zidoo X9 however.

Zidoo will be offering their usual assortment of value added software, with NASKit (Zidoo’s file server app), Zidoo Theatre and ZDMC (Zidoo’s custom Kodi fork) pre-installed.

New Details on the Zidoo X9S

    Zidoo-X9S-Android-N01

It’s not just the Zidoo X8 that has been announced. Zidoo have also revealed the design of their flagship Zidoo X9S.

Building upon the design of the Zidoo X9, the Zidoo X9S comes with an “space grey” aircraft-grade aluminum shell which the company says won’t show fingerprints at all. It’s nice to see a company explicitly mentioning the “fingerprint factor”.

Where to buy the Zidoo X8 and Zidoo X9S

There’s no pricing information available at this stage, the Zidoo X8 and Zidoo X9S aren’t available for purchase at the moment.

Stay tuned for their imminent release.

Zidoo X9S Features Realtek RTD1295, HDMI Recording and SATA Port

Zidoo have released specifications of their latest flagship TV box, the Zidoo X9S. Packing a quadcore Realtek RT1295 processor that I haven’t seen in a TV box before, it also offers a range of unique specifications that makes it a box to watch.

      Zidoo-X9S-N01

Based on the material I’ve seen, the Zidoo X9S will run both Android 6.0 Marshmallow and OpenWRT simultaneously. This means that not only will it be running Google’s latest operating system but will also be able to function as a router or fileserver at the same time.

HDMI In also makes an appearance for the first time in a Zidoo box since the Zidoo X9. There’s no information about the recording specs but expect a bump over its predecessor.

      Zidoo-X9S-N02

The unit’s T820 MP3 GPU should make it a beast for gaming (relative to other TV boxes though not as powerful as the NVidia Shield TV).

The rest of the specs are equally impressive, offering 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 16GB of eMMC storage, dual band wireless AC, and USB 3.0.

There’s no information of what the case will actually look like as Zidoo is still designing it but I’ll update as soon as I find out more.

      Getting One

There’s no pricing or availability information yet but expect it to be north of $100 from the usual retailers.
